A Few Places You’ll Want to Know:
The Telling Tide
Cards • Crystals • Curiosities
Founded by Maeve Glanbury, The Telling Tide is Crow Harbor’s favorite stop for tarot, crystals, curious treasures, and answers you may or may not want. Now run by Maeve’s grandniece, Juni, the shop has been predicting trouble for generations. Walk-ins welcome. Skeptics tolerated.
The Harbor
Where Crow Harbor Works
Lobster boats. Bait sheds. Gulls with no respect for personal space, and folks who read the weather better than any app. The harbor is the heartbeat of the town, and the reason the rest of us get to stay!
The Telling Tide
Food• Spirits• Bad Advice
Good food. Cold drinks. Warm people. The Black Buoy (or “the Buoy” if you’re local) is where stories get bigger, shoulders relax, and somebody always knows the comings and goings of the town.
Meet Augustus Crow
Local resident • Petty criminal • Allegedly a bird
Augustus Crow has been a fixture in Crow Harbor for as long as anyone can remember. Quite literally. Town records dating back to its earliest days contain suspiciously consistent references to a large black crow named Augustus.
Whether this is the same bird is a question locals find both ridiculous and slightly rude.
KNOWN OFFENSES:
Stealing keys • Removing signs • Unattended pastry theft • Christmas-light vandalism • Pamphlet redistribution • General interference
SPRING
BLESSING OF THE FLEET
Crow Harbor welcomes spring by dressing the working fleet in flowers and bunting before the boats parade through the harbor for a blessing and a safe season at sea. Everyone turns out for the tradition, including Augustus, who has never once been invited.
The Crow Harbor Calendar
SUMMER
HARBOR DAYS
We celebrate summer with boat races, live music, waterfront vendors, and enough lobster rolls to feed half of Maine. The tourists come for the festival; the locals come to complain about the tourists and win the boat races.
FALL
LANTERN FESTIVAL
As the nights grow longer, Crow Harbor fills the waterfront with glowing lanterns, bonfires, cider, folklore walks, and a market devoted to the town’s slightly stranger traditions. Nobody calls it magic, exactly. That would be showing off.
WINTER
CHRISTMAS IN THE HARBOR
Crow Harbor meets winter with twinkling shop windows, a lighted boat parade, waterfront markets, and enough greenery to decorate every doorway in town twice. Please secure all Christmas lights. Augustus has a history.
A Few Things to Know Before Visiting:
DON’T CALL AGUSTUS CROW “GUS”
You may hear locals do it. This does not extend to you.
THE FOG WILL LIFT WHEN IT'S READY.
Your weather app has no authority here.
DON’T ARGUE WITH A LOBSTERMAN ABOUT WEATHER
Actually, don't argue with one about lobster either.
YES, EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYONE
No, they absolutely were not talking about you. Probably.
“FROM AWAY” IS A COMPLETE BIOGRAPHY
You could have lived here for seventeen years. Congratulations on your visit.
IF THE TELLING TIDE’S LIGHT IS ON AFTER JUNI GOES HOME FOR THE DAY… keep walking.
